Alternative 3rd Party Email Providers

GrowthZone would like to provide direction when seeking to find email hosting from 3rd party providers. While the majority of decision making, when it comes to email hosting, may lie with your IT service provider, we would also like to provide a general overview of the process and as well refer our customers to common hosting services.

 

The majority of our customers utilize one of the two following services.

 

Microsoft 365 (formerly Microsoft Office 365)

 

Microsoft 365 email hosting offers calendar and contact synching, along with push technology on a Microsoft Exchange platform, which is much for flexible than the IMAP/POP3 services that were previously provided with the free email services previously hosted by GrowthZone.

 

Google Workspace

 

Google Workspace provides similar functionality, such as calendar and contact synching, to Microsoft 365, however push technology, "Google Sync", is only supported on mobile devices and the sync process with Microsoft Outlook isn't as dynamic as that of Microsoft 365's hosting.

 

A 3rd option, however, might prove to be more cost effective if you are just starting out with business-based email.

 

ZoHo Mail

 

ZoHo Mail is significantly more cost effective than the prior two options with email accounts starting at as low as $1.00 per user per month for as long as the amount of email storage you have isn't important to you. If you frequently archive your mail to your local desktop then this shouldn't be a significant issue but if you prefer to have all of your email accessible from all devices at all times you would likely want to start off with their $4.00/month hosting with 50GB of storage space.

 

Zoho supports contact and calendar sync via Exchange Active Sync and also supports IMAP/POP3.

 

Q & A

 

What do I need to do to move my email hosting to another provider?

 

A.  You will first need sign up with your new email hosting provider who will then provide you with instructions to set up your new email hosting for your domain. This will require access to your DNS provider in order to update the appropriate records for your email hosting configuration. In some cases, GrowthZone manages DNS for customers so if you are in doubt, send an email to [email protected] to see if we are hosting your DNS.

 

You will need to coordinate with your IT service provider to archive your existing mail to your local workstation or migrate your email using IMAP. To avoid losing access to some email during the transitional process, this should be done right before the MX records for the domain have been updated in DNS. If GrowthZone manages DNS for your domain your IT service provider will need to coordinate with us to set up a time to update the MX record once emails for all of the mailboxes have been archived.

 

What role will GrowthZone play in migrating my GrowthZone-hosted email to another provider?

 

GrowthZone support for the free email hosting service has always been limited to webmail and the online documentation. You can have your IT service provider log in to https://help.emailsrvr.com with your existing email credentials for assistance with setting up an email client for the archival or migration process. We do not provide desktop support of any kind.
